Kickstarter Watch: Bruvelo churns out perfect coffee every time

Welcome to PokerNews Lifestyle, our look at new technology, home furnishing, booze, movies, TV, games, food and much more.

Plenty of us love coffee. A lot. Some of us (cough, cough) have a difficult time getting going in the morning without a cup o' joe. Me? I'm a cold-brew guy ever since I discovered Chameleon Coffee out of Austin. Half a cup of their concentrate with half a cup of milk and a little sweetener added in on top of some ice, and I'm golden. And by golden, I mean ready to take on anything the day might bring me.

But some of you still prefer your coffee the old-fashioned way, which is to say: piping hot and perfectly brewed. The problem is that getting the exact grind right, the filter, the amount of water and the temperature of that water is not always the easiest proposition. And if you don't get all of those things exactly right, your coffee won't be as good as it could or should be.

That's where the new Bruvelo coffeemaker comes in. It's currently on Kickstarter (because everyone awesome is on Kickstarter), and you can jump into the game for just $299, which is $130 off the planned retail price. And what is the game, you ask? Perfectly-brewed coffee every time, that's what.

The Bruvelo makes 10oz of coffee each time. It has a burr grinder built in and can use either metal or paper 63mm disc filters. Once you add the beans into the hopper, the machine will tell you if you've added enough water for the amount of beans you have. And then it brews the water to a perfect temperature of 199ยบ and maintains that temp throughout the process.

Oh, and you can control the entire brewing process, including the time it actually starts brewing, by using an accompanying app for your smartphone. Which means you can wake up in the morning, grab your phone and tell your Bruvelo to start brewing.

I put my money where my mouth is and backed the Bruvelo on Kickstarter. You can do the same here. It doesn't ship until October 2016, which is a long time to wait for delicious coffee. But given how awesome this thing looks, it will be worth the wait.

What do you think?
