Microsoft takes on Apple with the Surface Book

We're unabashed Apple fans here at PokerNews Lifestyle. But it's also our job to point out cool new gadgets from every company that announces them, and that's why we're here today to tell you about what appears to be an awesome new offering from...Microsoft.

Yes, Microsoft. The tech giant today announced the Surface Book, which is designed to take on the recently announced iPad Pro from Apple. It's essentially a new variation of the popular Surface Pro, with a really great screen and a keyboard built in. But you can attach the screen from the keyboard and just use it as a tablet, if you want.

This thing is Microsoft's attempt at going after the high-end laptop market AND the iPad Pro. It's got a higher resolution screen at the same size, a faster processor, and the same RAM and hard drive space offerings. And much like a tablet, it also features front and rear-facing cameras. It's the ultimate hybrid PC/tablet, or is at least being presented that way. The problem? It still runs Windows 10, and Windows 10, all things considered, is awful.

Point being, if you don't mind Windows 10 and you're in the market for a new Windows laptop, this thing is going to be a monster. I am intrigued. It comes out at the end of the month and starts at $1,499.

Please don't tell my hipster friends; they'll take away my Apple-Lovers card, and that would crush me.

What do you think?
