Step Into the Future With the HTC Vive VR Headset

We remember going up to Dave and Buster's in the early 1990's for one reason only: the sweet virtual reality setup.

You put a headset on, and suddenly you were transported to another world. Granted, that world was made entirely of giant polygons and a black sky, but with the giant headset on, you truly felt like you were not on earth anymore. It felt like the future of video games. Someday, we would BE a Mario Brother, saving the princess with our own hands and feet.

Of course, the best part of that VR game at Dave and Busters? Standing outside and watching your friends stumble around like idiots. That was the best.

Now it's 2015, and virtual reality is finally becoming a thing. Facebook bought the Oculus Rift for billions of dollars, and they are no doubt currently planning out extremely creepy ways to stalk your ex with it. And HTC, known as a phone maker, is also getting in the game with the HTC Vive VR headset. The good news is that they co-developed this thing with Valve, and Valve makes awesome games. It also has a 1080p screen for EACH EYE, a refresh rate of 90 frames per second and two separate hand controllers.

The bad news? The Vive doesn't come out until Holiday 2015. The sooner this thing is on our head, the better. We'd like to pretend we're at the final table with millions on the line, because it is about as close as we'll come.

What do you think?
