The Ruggie Alarm Rug makes you get out of bed in the morning

I am not a morning person. Getting out of bed in the morning sucks, and I am perpetually hitting snooze on my iPhone alarm just to get a few more precious moments of something resembling sleep.

But there's just one problem with that. I can hit snooze and stay in bed for hours, and by the time I do finally force myself out of bed, I'm already groggy. Needless to say, it's not a good way to start the day.

Now there's a solution for that. It's called the Ruggie, and it's part rug and part alarm clock.

Here's how it works: when the Ruggie alarm sounds, you have to physically get out of bed and stand on it for one minute before it will turn off. There's no snooze button; you actually have to stand there for a full minute before the thing will shut off.

You can change how long you have to stand on it to shut it off. But the point is, you have to physically get out of bed and make yourself stand upright for a period of time in order to turn it off. Which means your blood starts flowing and the cobwebs begin clearing. And once the alarm finally shuts off, you'll have no need for the snooze button.

That's the theory, anyway. The Ruggie is available now via Kickstarter for $79.
